Fline is collaborating with the association Prévention & Modération—founded by alcohol producers’ federations and the UMIH—on the national “Take Time to Breathe” campaign. This initiative aims to make breath testing before driving more widely adopted through an innovative and interactive device. The project is based on the deployment of 46 FlineBoxes in bars, restaurants, and nightclubs, primarily in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, as well as in Île-de-France, Hauts-de-France, and Western France.

This proactive approach supports Prévention & Modération’s mission to promote moderate alcohol consumption, in line with France’s public health guidelines (a maximum of two drinks per day and not every day). It plays a crucial role in the road-safety context: although fatal road accidents involving a positive blood-alcohol level fell by 7.5% in 2023—representing 22.2% of road deaths—alcohol remains a major aggravating factor.

The project also fits within a strengthened regulatory framework, particularly following the adoption by the French Senate of the bill creating the offense of “road homicide” (1 July 2025). Drivers responsible for fatal traffic accidents involving aggravating circumstances—including alcohol consumption—now face harsher prosecution. In this context, the FlineBox stands as a concrete prevention tool to help avoid such situations.
