Recognised at the Excellence in Road Safety Awards 2025 for their joint initiative using the FlineBox

Brussels, 17 October 2025 – Fline is proud to announce that, together with the Road Safety Authority (RSA) Ireland, it has been honoured at the Excellence in Road Safety Awards 2025, winning the Driving Under the Influence and Distraction category.

Organised by the European Road Safety Charter under the European Commission, the awards celebrate the most innovative and impactful initiatives advancing road safety across Europe. This year’s ceremony, held in Brussels, recognised outstanding achievements from public authorities, industry leaders, and civil society organisations working towards safer mobility.

A powerful collaboration for safer choices

The award highlights the success of the FlineBox, an interactive breathalyser terminal designed to help individuals assess their alcohol level before deciding to drive. Developed by Fline and deployed by the RSA across Ireland, the FlineBox uses advanced Dräger sensor technology to provide quick, reliable results in just 10 seconds (turning awareness into direct action).

Over a six-month pilot in 2024, 12 FlineBox devices were installed in 10 hospitality venues and two major national events, enabling 24,941 tests and collecting 24,871 survey responses across six counties. The kiosks appeared at Ireland’s largest gatherings, including Electric Picnic and the National Ploughing Championships, reaching more than 319,000 people, nearly 6% of Ireland’s population.

Building on this success, the RSA and Fline expanded their collaboration in 2025, with new deployments at The Galway Races, The Dublin Horse Show, and again at Electric Picnic and The Ploughing Championships. These activations facilitated an additional 68,000 preventive tests, further embedding drink-driving prevention into Ireland’s social and cultural landscape.

“Turning prevention into a shared experience”

We are deeply honoured to receive this award alongside our partners at the RSA,” said Adelin Jacques de Dixmude, Co-founder of Fline. “This recognition proves that when public authorities and innovators work together, prevention can become a shared experience (one that’s accessible, data-driven, and truly effective). Drink driving remains one of the most preventable causes of death on European roads. Through technology like the FlineBox, we empower individuals to make informed, responsible choices before they ever start the engine.

A shared commitment to Vision Zero

This European recognition reinforces Fline’s mission to make prevention visible, accessible, and measurable, and supports the EU’s Vision Zero objective: to halve road deaths and serious injuries by 2030 and eliminate them entirely by 2050.

Fline extends its warmest thanks to the Road Safety Authority Ireland, the European Road Safety Charter, and all the organisations contributing to safer roads across Europe.
