A successful collaboration with RSA Ireland recognised at the European level
Fline has been shortlisted for the Excellence in Road Safety Awards 2025 (ERSC Awards) in the category Driving under the influence and distraction.
This recognition highlights the impact of the FlineBox, our interactive breathalyser device, and its role in reducing alcohol-related road accidents across Europe. Together with the Road Safety Authority (RSA) Ireland, we demonstrated how innovation and prevention can work hand in hand to save lives.
Tackling drink driving in Europe
Drink driving remains one of the leading causes of road fatalities in Europe. According to the European Transport Safety Council, alcohol-related crashes continue to claim thousands of lives each year. Many drivers still underestimate their blood alcohol levels, taking unnecessary risks on the road.
The FlineBox was designed to address this issue where it matters most: in nightlife settings, festivals, clubs, and hospitality venues.
Over 1 million preventive tests carried out since 2021.
Pilot results in Ireland showed that 45% of people who tested over the limit wrongly believed they were fit to drive.
More than 250 FlineBox devices deployed across Europe, providing both real-time prevention and anonymised behavioural data.
This approach proves that technology-driven prevention tools can complement public campaigns and enforcement measures to create safer roads.

Building safer roads together
At Fline, our mission is to make alcohol prevention visible, accessible, and measurable. The FlineBox helps individuals make safer choices before driving while providing institutions with valuable road safety insights.
This nomination at the ERSC Awards 2025 is not just recognition for Fline, but also for the many public authorities, NGOs, and local partners who trust and support our initiative.
Together, we can reduce alcohol-related crashes and build a safer, more responsible mobility future in Europe.
